. THE COMPETITIONS. Tho third annual festival of the New Zealand Competitions Society promises to eclipse all such previous gatherings. Tho talent that will bo competing at tho Town Sail during tho coming fortnight is representative of Australasia, thero being no fewer than eight competitors who have won championship honours at festivals outside of Wellington. A particularly fmo and attractive programme has been arranged for the opening night, Monday next, when, tho finals for the following sections will he hoard: Piano duet; recitation, boys (under 12); soprano solo; dramatic recital (gentlemen); song (boys under 1<I); dialogue (under 21); tenor solo; humorous recital and a comedietta "The Roil 0 " the winning commedietta at last year s festival. Tho day sessions will also bo interesting. In the song (boys under 14) thoro are fifteen entries, including the champion boy vocalist at tho Duncdin competitions, and in the dialogue under 21, little- Cecilo Haines will be a competitor. Mr. T. M. Wiiford, president of.the society, will formally open tho festival at the commencement ot tho evening performance. Tho box plan is now open at tho Dresden for the entiro season of fourteen nights.
