Callau). tho Hamilton High School Reserve Bill (the Hon. W. Beehan), the Springs County Council Reclamation and Empowering Bill (the Hon. C. A. C. Hardy), the Tiniaru Harbour Board Empowering Bill (tho Hon. J. Anstoy), the Bluff Harbour Board Empowering Bill .(to Hon. A. Baldoy), the "Whangarei Foreshore Vesting Bill (tho Hon. T. Thompson), the We'stport Public -Parks .Vesting Bill (the Hon. T. Thompson)-, tho Citv of Nelson Loan Conversion and Empowering Bill (the Hon. 0. Samuel), tho Wanganui Borough Council Street Access Empowering Bill (the Hon. J- T. Paul), the Auckland City Empowering Bill (tho Hon. S. Thorite George), tho Westorn Taiori Laud Drainage Board Enabling Bill (tho Hon. J. B. Callau), tho Patea Harbour Bill (the Hon. 0. Samuel), the Wanganui Harbour District and Empowering Bill (the Hon. VICTORIA COLLEGE. . The Victoria College Amendment Bill (the Hon. H. D. Dell) was read a third time. The Hon. J. E. JENKINSON asked the Minister whether ho was aware that ono local body interested in the Bill was opposed to it. If the Minister was aware of this, Mr. Jenkinson suggested that he should postpono the measure in order to allow the local . body _ to be hoard, or perhaps should drop it altogether. . The Hon. H. I). BELL said he was aware of- tho opposition of one local body, but there were two local bodies interested, and ono was unanimously in favour of the Bill. Ho proposed that the Bill should be allowed to pass, and later, when tho Bill was in charge.of tho Minister of Education in tho Houso of Representatives, the opponents of tho Bill could be given their opportunity of stating their reasons for objecting to it. The Council adjourned at 4.25 p.m. until 8 p..m At the adjournment in the afternoon the Hon. H. D. Bell asked members to return nt 8 p.m., because ho would bo better able then to make a statement as to tho order of business, At 8 o'clock Mr. 801 l said he was sorry ho had called members together for no apparent reason, but ho felt suro hen. gentlemen would understand that lie had reason for not announcing the adjournment in tho afternoon. Ho would nldve'that the Cou'ncil:,do now adjourn. : Tho Council rose after having been in. session only threo minavtcs.
