Ghristchurch, October SI. To-day tlic harbour bears a very deserted appearance. Tlie only arrivals tin's morning. were the lilimaroa from Sydney, via Wellington,iwith a few passengers on board. In all the vessel had about 170 tons of cargo to ii/iload nt Lyttolton, but was nnablo'to discharge it. Included amongst the i 3 400 cases o. fruit, but this, too, has to, bo carried on to Dunedin. When tho pickets went round to the Cygnet this morning they were followed, at a respectable distance, by an inoffensive-looking young man with a camera. He took sovoral snapshots of incidents with reference to the cessation of work, but thon tho picket pounced on him'. He pleaded that he was only an amateur engaged in a peaceful and inoffensive occupation. "I know him," said one man. 'He's a newspaper photographer." The picket commenced to act at onco and tho photographer was ordered to destroy his plates.'. The plates wero afterwards exposed to. tho light, and 'scratched to make assurance doubly sure.
