NEW WIRELESS STATION.
« —«- AT THE CHATHAMS. Tho Hon. R. H. Rhodes (Postniastar* General) has received the rop.ort of the aß&lstant-tolcgraph engineer sent to the Chatham Island to open the wireless' statieu there.' Following Is a summary of tho principal points in the report:—« "Tho aito is very suitable, having an almost clear range in every direction. The tests or the Working oapaoity of tho station wero very satisfactory. Tho effective range of working by night and by day is quite equal to that anticipated. Tho Work of ereotiu.g the star tion buildings, etc., has been very satisfactorily performed by the ovorseer of Post and. Telegraph workshops- The work of erecting the masts and stays has been done in a very offioient manner, under the direction of Mr. Spry. It was performed under very adverse westhor conditions, and Tro'fkota great credit ofl all concerned. "The electrical apparatus, engine, etc., Wore also installed by Mr; Spry in a hipbly creditable manner. Severe wind. pros.Buro may be expected at times, but the masts, etc, have been constructed, with a good margin of safety. The machinery and apparatus nre equal to requirements, and are working satisfactorily."
