Tho watersider workers gathered along t'ho waterfront and succeeded in inducing the seamen not to assist in bunkering operations Instructions liavo been received from Wellington to that effect. Tho captain and officers and permanent railway staff handled tho trucks of coal about the bins, and the engineering staff did the trimming 011 board tho vessels. The men were subjected to a.'goqd dejl <if banter, but hcthing of a hostilo nature was attempted. All threo. vessels subsequent* ly left for Groymoutli. Tho town is very quiet. The watersiders are holding a meeting to-night, hut nothing has yet been disclosed. Business people are running sliort of flour and sugar and other produce. Bad weather today prevented tllic men ■ engaging in wh'ito baiting, usually a very profitable business. Tho mines are idle. )
