A man standing near a tree which was struck by lightning was knocked down and temporarily paralysed on ono side. A motor-launch conveying a largo quantity of stock for a storo sank. The two occupants, after a struggle, reached tho river bank. Heavy rain fell at Wagga, doing damage to orchards and crops. Tho mail coach from Kyoglo to Casino was turned over by the gale. There were 110 passengers aboard. A man known as Henry Stannard, aged thirty-two years, a _ farm hana, was killed by lightning while sitting on a. low branch of a tree. At an inquest the evidence showed that h© was an immigrant, whose real name was Jamea Cooper. Brisbane, October SO. During a storm at Boompa, North Queensland, Reginald Bates a youth, was killed by lightning. , FLOODS AND LOSS OF LIFE. FIFTY-FOUR PEOPLE DROWNED. . San Salvador, Ootober 29.
