GALLICHAN'S ANNUAL SALE.
The attention of lovers of the Holstein breed of cattle is directed to the abose fixture, to take place oil the stud farm' at Tiakitahuna, 011 November 5. Perhaps the greatest feature of interest this year is tho cows under semi-official test, and these will be milked at 1 p.m. sharp before the sale, to show what is being done frt "Lakeside." "Holland Queen" (five years old) has given 96.81b.; "Diamond" (imp.) (four years), 76.21b.; "Monona Indi Surprise" (imp.) (four years), 162.21b.; "Johanna Beauty Bell Piebe" /imp.) (four years), 63.11b. Besides others, a fine yearling bull, out of "Holland Queen," by "King Scgis Wild Rose Homestead" (imp.), and one out of "Monono Indi Surpriso," by "Canary Paul Fobes Oak" (imp.), will be offered, and many other highbred males and females. Through the sudden illness of Mrs. Gallichan, the team for tho Manawatu Show (including "Holland Queen") may not be shown, so lovers of tho black and whites would do well to visit "Lakeside" on tho day of tlio sale, and inspect theso fine animals. It is imperative each year now to dispose of twenty or thirty on account, of the size of the farm—loo acres, aiid the sale will be under tho vendor's personal guarantee. Drags leaves Messrs. Dalgety and Co.'s office, Palmerston North, on day of sale. Once upon a time there was really'no assistance for tho cheese-maker; lie had to toko "pot luck" with whatever crude apparatus camo his way. And even a fow years back'cheese-making was an uncertain process. Then came the "Victor" Vat and with the advent of this most efficient aid cheese-making was lifted out of the "rut," and is to-day ono of tlio chief industries of this country.
