Messrs. 'Abraham - and Williams, Ltd., report on J-heir spring cattle fair, held at Sohvay yards, ILasterton. us under:—Wo yarded upwards of 12C0 head, mainly comprising station lines of well-bred cattle, which on the whole, were particularly well drafted, and in the majority of caet-3 offered for absolute sale. Taken as a whole, the condition wae not equal to previous years, mainly attributable to the shortness of feed iast winter,- following on a dry autumn. A very spirited sale resulted, in "many instances prices realised being greatly in excess of vendors' expectations. A record was established for tho Wairarapa for a line of 50 of Mr. W. 11. Beetha.m"s two-year-old Hereford cross Gtesrs from the Korarau Station, particularly well grown apd in splendid condition, making tlio satisfactory price of £7 Bs. 6d., purchased on, behalf of Matawhero Estate, the four-year-old Hereford bullocks from Annedale Station made £10 fc., being purchased by Mr. A. M'Donald, Ngakonui Estate; and 91 of tho three-year-olds, somewhat backward in condition, ma-do , £8 10s., .the purchasers being Mr. J. O." Sutherland, Pirinoa, and Mr. T. W. •Jt'Kenzie, Masterton. Mr. Jas. M'Kenzie paid £8 2s. 6d. for B0 well-bred, three-year bullocks from Glondonal.d Station. . Some. very nice female beef was 'yarded, thoso from Annedale making £9 2s. 6d. and £8; on behalf of Branccpcth, £8 12s. 6d. and £7 15s. A large entry of two-year-old toeiffirs. offered on hehflli of Messrs. R-iddiford and-Co., Tablelands, and OleTihurn stations, were of good quality, and ' sold at prices which, must be considered reasonable to tho purchasers, 140 Shorthorns making £3 95.; 50 Polled-Angue £4 13s. 6d. to £4 16s. 6d.; and 76 Hereford, £4 to £4'3s. The smaller linee of tho vaTiou* br ri 2(ls made £3 3s. 6d., £3 7s. 6d., and £2 175.. respectively. TumbuU and Co., Ltd., report having having held their annual spring cattlc fair in their Waipoua (Masterlon) saleyards, on Tuesday, when they offered a good yarding of cattle up to advertised numbers.
