Of New Zealand Interest. j Tho marriage of Miss Marcia Finch, eldest daughter of Mr E. H. Finch, relieving managor of tho Bank of Now South Wales, and Mr. Percy T. L. Thorpe, manager of the Queensland National 1 Bank, lingham, North Queensland, took place at St. Stephen's Church, Chatswood (N.S.W.), on September 17. The coroniony was performed by the Rev. Mr. Elwin. The bride, who was given away by her fathor, woro ivory crepo de cliino, veiled with sha,dow ninon, tho square train being lined with shell pink. Tho bodice was draped with a piece of laco made by. an ancestress of the bride. Her white velvet hat was lined with black, and trimmed with an ostrich feather. Sho was attended by her sister, Miss Finch, who woro a ' white crepo do chine, veiled with lace, 1 and a whito laco hat to match. A re- j caption was afterwards hc-ld at Chats- j wood House, Chatswood, the residence of tho brido's aunt, Mrs. Howard, tho rooms being decorated with pink roses. After supper a dance held in tho ballroom, where the wedding presents wero displayed, and Miss Paton (Tainworth) also sang. Later, Mr. and Mrs. Thorpe left for the South Coast by motor-car, the brido travelling ill an apricot sponge-cloth coat and skirt,' and grey motor-coat, and bonnet trimmed with blue. Amongst the guests were: Mrs. Howard, Miss Mabel Howard, Mrs. Meynick (grandmother of the brido), Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Meyniok, Miss Vera Meynick, Mr. E. H. Finch, tho Misses B. and F. Finch, Mr. Hambridgo (best man), Miss K. Finch, Miss Ida Finch (N.Z.), Miss Willis, Mrs. Evans, Miss Reynolds, Miss I. Finch, Miss L. Patrtu (Tamworth), Miss Nixon, Miss L. Gas- ■ well, Miss M. Hunter, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Matthows, Mr. C. E. Finch, Mr. Lewis Finch,. Mr. Row, Miss Marion Dalhuntiy, Mrs. Cooper, and Miss Teresa Mann. At St. Phillip's Church Hill, Sydney, : a wedding was solemnised, on Wednesday evening, October 15, when Mr. Frank C. Henderson, fourth son of Mr. ■ and Mrs. M. Henderson, Milburn, New j Zealand, was married to Miss Elsio Muriel Owen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Burne Owon, Fernleigh, Meadowbank. Tho Rev. Canon Bellingham, M.A., officiated. Tho bride, who was given away by lior fathor, was dressed in white crepe do chine, draped with Honiton lace and festoons of satin roses. Silo also woro a handsome embroidored veil over a small coronet of orange blossoms, and carried a choice shower bouquet, which, with a turquoise and_ diamond ring, was the gift of. tho bridegroom. The only bridesmaid TS'as Miss Ethel Henderson (N.Z.), sister of the bridegroom, who was m silver grey eharmeuso trimmed with shadow laco and roliovod with pale pink. The bridegroom's gifts to her woro a pearl and turquoise pendant, and a bouquet of pink roses. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. J. D. M'Leod, late of Tiniarn, N.Z., who acted as bast- man. After tho ceremony the bridal party adjourned to the Wentworth Hotel, where they were entertained by tho brido's parents. Allcetoivn Sale of. Worh. , The salo of work in oonnection with :tlio Alicetown Congregational Church was opened yesterday .afternoon by Mrs. A. M. Lewis, of Wellington, who congratulated the ladies of the guild upon the way in which they had carried out the arrangements, and also u]>on the garments and fancy-work _ which thoy had provided. Mrs. Lewis was presented with a bouquet of flowers by Master Neils Masterson. Tho stalls consisted of plain and fancy-work, confectionery, produce of every description, toys, flowers, a junior stall (fancy), and a tea-room. The salo will bo open again to-day. A number of visitors attended from the city; including Mrs. Williams, Dance at Levin. A very pleasant dance took place in Levin on Thursday, October 23, at the residence of Mr. Bartholomew, the joint hostesses bein.ii Mrs. Cork and Miss Bartholomew. Tlio guest of honour was Miss Flora M'Donald, whoso marriago takes placo shortly. Tlio diningroom, cleared for dancing, was prettily decorated, while tho supper tables held bowls of cream roses and OTange hlossoms. Mrs. Cork was attired in pink; Miss Bartholomew was in flowered muslin; and Miss M'Donald in blue sijk. Atkinson is visiting Wanganui.' Tho engagement is announced of Miss Maxwell Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Browh, Wellington, to Mr. Cyril Bartholomew, of Tateroa, Levin. Mr. and Mrs. Myers Caselljerg (Mastorton) and the Misses Caselberg (2) wero expected to arrivo in Wellington last evening, and thev. intend leaving the next day for Duneain. hivitations have been, issued by Lady Stout for an "at home," which will be held at her residence on The Terrace on Saturday evening to meet Their Excellencies the Governor and tho Countess of Liverpool. Madamo Curie, the discoverer of radium, shrinks from publicity in any form. Sho has been spending a good deal of timo with Dr. Ernest Rutherford, Professor of Physics at Liverpool University. Madame Curie's opinion of this brilliant New Zealander is that he is the one man living who promises to confer somo inestimable boon on mankind as a result of her own discovery of radium. "I would advise England to wa.toh Dr. Rutherford," sho said. "His work in radio-activity has surprised mo greatly. Groat developments are likely to transpire shortly to which the discovery of radium was only a preliminary." Tho members of the Christchurch Centre of tho Girls' Realm Guild ontortained Miss Alison Fraser, one of, their members, at a dunce last week. Miss Fraser is leaving tho district on the occasion of her approaohing marriage. Mrs. Pine, of St. Albans, kindly placed lior resldonco at tho disposal of the Guild, and her hospitality was mush appreciated. Boys' Institute Bazaar. Tlio Boys' Institute Bazaar was opened yesterday by Mrs. W. F. Masse,v, the Mayor,, Mr. J. P. Luke, presiding. There was again it good attendance, and much interest was taken in the national' del! dressing competition, the judges for ivhioh were Her Excellency tho Countess of Liverpool, Mts. W. F. Massey, and Mrs. S. A. Rhodes. There was also a baby show in charge of Mrs. -Gorman. Iu the evening music was provided by Jupp's Band and tho Brooklyn Orchestra, and there were dia. plays of pageant groups as well as a demonstration of physical drill ,by 6enior cadets. The Pioneer Club rooms wero decorated with a profusion of lovolv flowers for the reception which was held yesterday afternoon iu honour of another distinguished visitor to Wellington, in the person of Mdlle. Genee. This city has neon fortuuato lately in having had so many artistes of 'world-wide repute in its midst, if even for a very brief call, but of'them all, Geuee is the first to show us what an exquisite thing dancing may be. On her arrival at thp club, Mdlle. Genee was welcomed by j)ri Platts-Mills- (in the absence of tho president, Mrs. A. R. Atkinson), Miss Amy Kane, and the representatives of the committee, Mrs. Fitchett ; and Miss Rothenberg. Dr. Platts-Mills, in a charming little speech, cordially welcomed the famous artiste to tho club. "Thoro was even an additional element ■of interest attached to Mdile. Geneo's visit there that afternoon," remarked Dr. Platts-Mills, "in tho fact tlmt Miss Evelyn Isitt, at present in England, had been intimately connected with tho club. ' During the last- few year's they had had among them many exponents of many of the arts, but Mdlle. Geneo was the first to show them tho poetry of motion." Mdlle. Genee (who in private lifo is Mrs. Frank Isitt) expressed her thanks for tho way in which she had been welcomed that afternoon. A brief and very enjoyable programme of music was contributed by Miss Watkins, Miss C. Denhard, and Miss Batton. Mdlle. Geneo wore a costumo of black chiffon velvet, with ruffles of cream lnce and a wide cre<im feathored hat. Mrs. Leonard Isitt, who was also a guest of the club, was in brown,.with a brown hat. Dr. Platts-Mills was iu a long black satin comt with red collar and cuffs and black hat; Miss Amy Kane, brown eharmeuso with a brown hot trimmed with apricot roses; Mrs. Fitchott, pale amethyst, frock and small toquo of a deeper shade; Miss Rothenberg, navy blua coat and skirt, and .black hat with pink roses. Among those present wore: Lady Stout, Miss Massoy, Mrs. Hales, Mrs. Jackson, Mrs. Atkins, Miss Newton, Mrs. .John ISlundell. Mrs. Rankino Brown, Miss Berne, Mrs. D.
