Art attempt was made 011 Saturday night to shoot Ivy Nicholson, a married woman. 21 years of ago, living apart from lier husband, and employed as a domestic at the Auckland Trained Nurses' Institute. Mrs. Nicholson states that she ro* tired about 11.30 p.m. A quarter of an hour later, hearing a noise at the window, she got up and struck a match, and saw a man whom she claims to havo recognised at the window. Ho commanded her to keep quiet, and put his arm through the window and pointed a revolver at her. Terrified she dropped the match, and Scrambled undor tho bed. A.shot rang out, tho bullet embedding itself in the wall. The intruder disappeared when the woman's screams brought help, but later ho reappearod, and pointed tlie revolver through tho window at tho matron. _ Nurse Wyatt and another nurse tried to seize tho weapon, but failed, and the mail escaped, HUSBAND "ARRESTED. Auoklanii, October 27. Arthur Nicholson has been arrested and charged with tho attempted murder of his wife" by shooting at her with a revolver. Ho had in bis possession a large calibre revolver, loaded in two chambers, and 49 cartridges.
