The senior 3 polo team did not meet with any great v success, but in exoneration therefor it 3 may bo mentioned that tho elements were anything but favourable for training 0 purposes. Also, tho club could not aU : ways bo fully represented, as the whole • of tho banner matches were played at a Te Aro Baths, which aro very inconveni- : ently situated for members. The junior t team was much moro successful, tho , inombers exhibiting,a keenness which - will doubtless prove of great benefit to - the club during the coming season. > Early in the season the committee ap- • proached the City Council asking that , mixed bathing ho permitted at Thorndon Baths. The permission of tho coun--1 cil having been given, Wednesday and 3 Saturday afternoons were sot "apart. 3 Tho scheme was immediately successful. 1 A most pleasing feature was the family bathing, and it is satisfactory to know that many ladies, who would" not have ; had an opportunity under the former circumstances, learned to swim during the season. The finances of the club are still in a very satisfactory condition, tho balancesheet showing a credit balance of £29 17s. Id., this amount including estimated value of gymnasium outfit, stop watch, and outstanding subscriptions, t leaving an actual balance in cash of £22 >' 12s. 6d. Wood in tho semi-final I ■- for tho championship, tlft> latter failing to make tho best use of his iron clubs. £ The Wellington player got in some 1 capital drives and soma good ap- ( iproach shots, but his putting was not as clean as usual, ho twice missing putts which to diim aro usually certainties.' Playing to.,the 11th hole, his approach was perfect-, enabling him to hole - out in 3. At tho 10th he made a fair f drive, but had a nasty lie, and made I a bad approach, losing tho hole.
