sist in maintaining order in the city during tho present- industrial disturbance are requested to communicate forthwith with tho Superintendent of Police, Lambton Quay Police station. Tho abovo announcement is published b.v the Polieo Authorities in cur advertising columns to-day. Commissioner Culien, who lias been in constant touch with tho Minister of Justice (Hon. • A. L. Herdman) during tho past tew days, informed a Dominion reporter yesterday that arrangements have beon mado by tho Department, which, ho is confident, will bo sufficient to prevent a repetition of tho recent disturbancee.

A number of constables arrived on Saturday, -and twenty more in charge of Sergeant Bird arrived from the South yesterday. Many more constables are expected to arrive to-day, and this will swell tho local force to a considerable number No polico are being brought to Wellington from north of Wuimurino, the drafts being taken chiefly from tho country districts in the Wellington province, Napier, Nelson, and South Island districts.

As regards the special constables, Section 32 of the Justices of the Peace Act provides that in caso,of any disturbance or apprehended disturbance special constables may bo sworn in by any two Justices of tho Peace. Mr. Oullon is confident that ho will receive a great deal of support from the general public in this direction. After being sworn in tho -special constables aro provided with a badge of distinction, a ltd are armed with a service baton.

The Commissioner would liko all those persons who have horees, suitable for mounted work, to communicate with him or Superintendent Ellison at tho Lambton Quay Police Station as soon as possible. Tho Department has already a numberV'of horses, but would like as many moro as it is possible to get.
