STAND FOR BETTER CONDITIONS,

London, October 25. The P. and 0. Shaping _ Company's officers havo notified their intention to discontinue their services until the Imperial Merchant Servico Guild adjusts tlioir grievances—inadequate pay, inadequate provision for old age, and excessive ovortimo. Of forty officers in Groat Britain, thirty have resigned. The remainder are pledged not to fill tho places. The Guild claims that tho bulk of tho officers aboard hold similar viows, of those who have resigned. The sailings of the Novara and Nankin (on Tuesday), and Arcadia (on Wednesday) are dependent upon tho receipt of a satisfactory answer- All resignations will bo effective on Monday. Tho Guild boliovcs that tho troublo will soon bo over, and amicably settled.
