CONFERENCE IN LONDON. By Taleerapli—Press Association—Oopnlsht London, October 22. At tlio conferonco on the subject of margarine, the Hon. Thomas Mackenzie, High Commissioner for Now Zealand, presided. There ivero present: Captain Muirhead Collins (privato secretary to the High Commissioner for Australia), the Australian Agents-Gen-eral, and forty representatives of tlio interests. The proceedings wore secret, but it is understood the conference negatived a motion in favour of separate compartments or counters, antf that it was resolved to deputationise the Imperial Government in order to secure legislation to prevent the colouring of margarine. The margarine merchants interviewed afterwards, said that they viewed the conference's decision imperturbauly, stating that Mr. Runciman (President of the Board of Agriculture), had refused legislation to a previous deputation, owing to the tremendous sale amongst the poorer classes. In answer to a request from the executive of the Great Waitemata Show, the Albany Fruitgrowers' Association has decided to alter the date of its annual show from February 7 to February 14. Tha former date is being retained for the "Waitemata Show, in consequence of the fact that it is the onlv suitable date upon which the TakaI puna Racqcourse is available.
