It has been learned that when the first rescuers were about to descend into the Universal Colliery, a conference of experts was held to decide'the mode of procedure. It was recognised that those descending wcro risking thoir lives. The seven n)en chosen rose from the tablo and went to different parts, of tho room, whore they wrote farewell messages to their nearest and dearest. Three made their wills, 'knowing they were engaged in a gamble with death. FROM A LIVING TOMB. MEXICAN MINERS' FORTUNATE DELIVERANCE. (Rec. October 23, 0.15 a.m.) New York, October 22. Owing to a-cloudburst causing a cavein, seven Mexican miners were entombed in a mine at Rockdale, in Texas, After five days' strenuous drilling, tho men were taken out alivo, much emaciated.
