In reply to a question in the, Legislative Assembly as to. what steps tho Government proposed to take in connection, with the recent inquiry regarding the Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Society's affairs, the Premier (Mr. Watt)' intimated that tho Attorney-General had directed that steps should be .taken with a view to tho prosecution of the petitioners. The Government, he added, did not consider it wiso : to ask Parliament to pass a resolution endorsing . the report of the inspectors. The cost of tho inquiry (£3010) would be borne by the Government.
