Mr; John Hennessy, ex-Governor Sulzer's_ friond, explained to a crowded meeting that Mr. Sulzer, whilo Governor, resisted every attempt at bribery. This proved distasteful to Tainmany, which thereby lost somo power. l Mr. Hennessy said lie did not beliovo r that Mr. Glynn, who has been appointed | Governor, would bo moro pliant. He . had no doubt Tammany would also find 1 somo reason for his (Mr. Glynn's) removal. Mr; Snlzcr had never been Governor of New York Stato oxcept nominally. Sulzer took the orders given him until ho was unable to stand "boss" Murphy's exactions any longer; then ho rebelled, because his conscience ' reasserted itself.
