Henry Pepper has been acquitted on a charge of murdering a woman named Ethel Sloan, with whom' he had been living for eight days prior to tho woman's death from Strychnine. Witnesses for the defonco testified that the woman had been questioned and had replied that she had taken strychnine in mistake for salts. DEATH IN A WINE VAT. ' _ Paris, October 21. A girl working in a wine vat at Correze was asphyxiated by the fumes. Four would-be resellers were also overcome by tho fumes, and died.
