SUDDEN DEATH.

DR.. A. M'ARTHUR, S.M. Very general regret will bo felt at tho news that Dr. A. M'Arthur, S.M., was- found dead in his office at the Magistrate's Court at 0.30 o'clock this morning. Dr. Henry was called in, but life was already extinct. The cause of death could not bo ascertained last night. Tho body was taken to tho Occidental Hotel, where Dr. M'Arthur resided. Ho leaves a widow, but had no children. According to "Who's Who In New Zealand," Dr. M'Arthur was born at Glasgow in ]8/55. Ho was educated Scotch College, Melbourne, and Melbourne University (M.A., LL.D.); for some time master at Scotch Collego, and also teacher at Model School, South Australia; arrived in Now Zealand 1880; senior master Auckland Grammar School, and subsequently first principal of Auckland Training College; established Queen's College, privately; started practice as barrister and solicitor in 1898 in Auckland, also acting as coroner; served on Auckland Education Board; ex-president Auckland Liberal Association; for somo time lecturer on jurisprudence, constitutional history, ana political economy at Auckland University College; appointed Stipendiary Magistrate, Wellington, 1901.
