GENEE AND THE RUSSIAN DANCERS.

' . ~' This morning, at the Dresden, the 'box plans will be opened for the Welr, lington season of the world's supremo j dancer, Adeline Genep, commencing at t the Opera House lioxt Saturday evong ing, under the direction of J. C. Wil--1 liamson, Ltd. ' The season will jtermin--1 ate on the following Saturday, and f there'will be a matinee performance on • tho afternon of that day. Tho celea brated dancer will have distinguished :- support. The principal dancers will i- include M. Alexander Yolinin and y Mdlle. Halina Schmolz, both of whom s have won wide popularity in Europe and s America. For the first time in its theatrie cal history there will be seen in WclI- lington a'daneer' of world-wide fame, il . She will present -next Saturday two 1- famous ballets, "Cojppelia,"' to the music of Delibes, and "Lcs Sylphides," n to the music of Chopin. The great [, composers have all written voluminously e for the ballet; indeed, some of their n greatest compositions were inspired by o tho dance. For this reason it is necesis sary to have a very complete orchestra, > and the J. C. Williamson management d has placed a grand operatic orchestra >, of twenty-five instrumentalists at the - disposal of M. Glaser, the musical direca tor. The programme for tho first four ii performances will bo the famous two-act ;o ballet "Coppelia," in which the principal characters will bo sustained by ir Geneo, as Swanilda, the village beauty, n M. Aloxander Volinin, as Franz, who 2- falls in lovo with tho Dolt, and Jan 's Zalewski, as the old toy-maker, who is i- hoaxed into believing that he has imi- parted life into one of his large met- chanical dolls, which is afterwards imi- personated by Genee, with humorous h effect. The second ballet in tho first jr programmo is "Lcs Sylphides," with n Genee as tho first Sylph, and Mddles, ■ Schmolz and Novotna as tho second and Jr third Sylphs respectively. The music i- incidental to this gorgeous spectaclo is re by Chopin. Additional^ interest will bo >n added by the presentation of a long series of fascinating dances, entitled is "Divertissements," the principal feaii- turo being the "Polka Violette," danced T .i -by M. Volinin and Halina Schmolz, to y. t' ie music of Strauss, whilst Mdllo, I Schmolz will also appear in the "Dying d- Swan," with music by Saint-Sacns.
