ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
KILLED BY A MOTOR-CAR. CORONER'S FINDING. {By Telegraph—Press Association.) Auckland, October 21. The circumstances connected- with the death of Thomas Clemond Thorpe, who was knocked down by a motor-car and killed on Sunday, wero investigated by the Coroner to-day. Tho accident occurred on the Mangere Road, a group of youths being overtaken by a taxicab, one of them, the deceased', being knocked down and fatally injured. Tho 1 Coroner's finding was: "That deceased : died on Sunday afternoon ; the cause of death being injuries recoived through being struck and run over by a motor--1 car driven by one George Hopkins, and that the said George Hopkins was guilty of: (1) Tiding to pass too close : to the deceased, when thero was ample room, and (2) giving 'insufficient warn- ■ ing of his approach." ; SHOCKING ACCIDENT. Stratford, October 21. C. F. Francis, a worker at the Mount i Egmont Metal Quarries, met with his , death to-day by falling over a cliff, a . distance of 150 feet. He had been ' working'on.'the job a'month,-but little > is known of him. The body was i brought by train from Waipuku,' 'and i an inquest will be held on Thursday. i ~ A' QUARRYMAN, KILLED. ! At three p.m. to-day a single" man ' named Francis, aged 35, who was en-, • gaged in stripping at the Egmont quar- | ries, near Waipuku, fell over a cliff a s distance of 1-50 feet. His head struck . a tree stump, and His skull was smasli- ' ed. Death was instantaneous. Fran- ! Cis was employed by the Public Works ; Department, and had been on the job J two months. He is believed to have re- ; lations in New Plymouth. An inquest is to be hold at Stratford. . j MOTOR-CYCLE ACCIDENT. t The police received a report last oven- . ing to the effect that a man named t John Justice, who resides at No. 4, . Green Street, Newtown, had met with- . a motor-cycle accident at Johnsonville 3 at 5.45 p.m. Nothing was known as 3 to how.'the mishap occurred, but on 1 being examined by Dr. Robertson, of r Johnsonville, Mr. Justice was found to be suffering from slight concussion of i the brain. He was removed to his - home in a taxi-cab.
