One firo has been extinguished, while another has been screened by barriers of sand-bags. Tho heat renders tho work difficult, but tho three main arteries to tho distant workings of tho mine aro now open to tho rescuers, who aro only stopped by an impenetrable canopy of gas, which is being withdrawn at tho rate of several yards per hour. Tho rescucra aro two-thirds of a mile from the spot where, it is'expeoied, the missing men will be found.
