9 ANGLICAN SYNOD APPROVES. (By Tfllepraph—Prceo Association.) Auckland, Qctobor 21. Tho Anglican Synod passed the following motions, on tho voices, without dissent: —"That this Synod deplores tho existence of war with its attendant evils, miseries and crushing and over increasing burden of armaments; it recognises that ifc,is the duty of Christians to pray and labour for the promoting of peaco; that inasmuch as under existing conditions it is abso- 1 lutely necessary to bo prepared to safeguard tlio national freedom and'rights agaiilst violent aggression, Synod affirms its adhesion to the' teaching of tho Holy Scripture anj of tho Church of England; that it is lawful for Christian men at tho commandment of the Magistrate to wear- weapons and servo in tho wars; that tho Synod approves of tho New Zealand Defenco Act as a measure calculated to secure our, national safety, and by training and discipline promote tho moral and physical well-being of tho youth of tho Dominion." '
