DINIZULU, KING OF ZULTJLAND. By Telosraph—Press Association—OopyTisrht (Reto. Octobor 19, 6.5 p.m.) [ London, Octobor 18. Obituary i Dinizulu, ox-King of Zululand. Dini&ulu was tho son of King Cetywayo. He was exiled to St. Helona in 1889, but permitted to return to Zululnnd in 1888, when lie was (panted the position of chief. In December, 1907, Dinizulu was imprisoned at Maritzburg, boing suspected of complicity in the revolt, which had occurred in Zululand the previous year. He was kept several months writing trial, there being considerable friction between tho colonial and British Government over the incidont. Ho was eventually brought to trial in 1908 before a special Court his dcfcnco being undertaken by Mr. W. P. Schreinor, and tho British Government contributing over ■C2OOO to the cost. Tho trial waj not concluded until March, 1909; Tlio cliargo of high treason was not proved, but Dinizulu was convictcd of harbouring rebels, and was sentenced to four years onmont. A CRIMEAN VETERAN. London. Ootober 17. Sir George Wombweli, a Crimean veteran, is dead. Sir Georgo Orby Wombweli, Bart., born in November, 1832, was in his youth a cornet in tho 17th Lancors. With his regiment he took part in tho Balaclava Charge, and was promoted for gallantry to tho rank of lieutenant. He retired in 1855. For several vears ho was master pf York and Ainsty Hounds. His heir ts his brother, Captain Henry Herbert.
