BOATING.
WELLINGTON NAVALS' SOCIETY. The annual meeting of the Wellington Navsls' Boating Society was held on Friday, Major A. E. Hi-slop presiding. The annual report was read and adopted. It was decided to affiliate with the New Zealand Rowing Association. ' It was resolved to a.sk the committee to report on the question as to the advis- ' ability !_of tlie society, throwing open its 1 doots- in order to'permit members of I other companies of the Territorials join- : ing. T. j Clarke, A.C.A. i The annual report mentions that during the year offers were received for the < purchase of the cutters, and two old ones ( were disposed of for .£25 and .£22105. each. ( Two four-oared outriggers were purchased from the North Shore Rowing Club (Auck- > land) for JJ3S-. Tlio annual cutter race for ' the White Horsa'Cup was won by the ' society last year. The next raco is to be held at Petone on tho first Saturday in December. Owing to two of the cutters heing disposed of the races will bo held as usual with the available cutter, and | the Petone crew will use their iiuht-oared 1 cutter. Alterations have been effected to ( the Social Hall, and tho improvements c made have made matters more convenient 1 for members. Col. C. J. Johnston, first c commanding officer of tho Wellington t Naval Brigade, presented a large-si?.ed c photograph of himself in uniform, and I this-has been hung in the social hall.
