The Meat Conference here was attended by cold storage importers and sanitarians. Mr. Cherry Henoch, representing Australia, said that carcasses were being prepared by leading German sanitarians with a view to demonstrating the best means of facilitating inspection. It was decided that Mr. Henoch should approach the Bundesrath (which represents the individual States of the German Empire), with a view to obtaining permission for tho defrosting of the organs, only, instead of the carcass; also to send carcasses prepared in three different ways for distribution by the Commonwealth Government, each State to obtain the opinion of exporters. It was Btated that recent competition had led to lower prices, and that increased importations were expected during 1914, provided tho Bundesrath agrees to the representations made.
Recently a Stratford dealer disposed of a hundred 25-year steers at £5 eich. Some Interesting items were supplied by Mr. W.
