HIGH-BRED SHORTHORNS.
IMPORTATIONS FOR MR. R. D. D. M'LEAN. Three very fine specimens of Shorthorn stock arrived by the TJlimaroa from Victoria yesterday for Mr. R. D. D. M'Lean's Maraekakaho station, Hawke's Bay. Tho most interesting is a stud bull, Bolinda, Duke of Demimut 820 th. This animal is looked upon as one of the very host sires in Australia. Accompanying this animal is', a fine heifer, Matilda's Duchess 2nd, sired by the former animal, with a magnificent bull calf at foot, the monthold sired by Emperor of Denmark 2nd and full brother to the calf which sold for 275 guineas at ten months old, at the Sydney Show sales. Boliiida,. Duke of Denmark 20th, was the winner of three firsts and two ' champion prizes. He sired the first, prize yearling hull. at Ballarat in 1910; and the first prize yearling heifer at the Ro.val Show in 1910; the first prize, yearling'; heifer, Ballarat, 1911; first pribe yearling heifer Bacchus Marsh same year: the first prize two-year-old heifer Ballan same year; also first prize yearling bull Royal •Show, Brisbane, samo year; also two of the tlvree yearlings which gained tho group prize for three best bulls under two years old exhibited at the Brisbane Royal. He also the same year sired the first prize yearling bull Royal Show, Sydney, which was afterwards sold at 1 auction for 300 guineas. In 1912 he sired first and second yearling heifers, first yearling bull, first three-year-old and champion bull, Bacchus Marsh; first prize yearling, .heifer, first prize two-year-old heifer, first priyearling bull, at Ballan; also first prize yearlinn bull Royal Show, Melbourne, and sold there for 275 guineas; the second prize yearling bull. Brisbane,, and sold for 150 guineas. In 1913 the highestpriced bull at Royal Show sales, Sydney—viz., 210 guineas—a yearling, was by him, also the first prize. yearling heifer' at the Melbourne Royal show, which was sold at 150 euineas, and tho yearling .heifer at Clifton Vale sale, which made 210 guineas, and the yearling bull, 250 guineas, were also sired by him; as well as several other yearlings which have made very high prices during the ■ past season.
