In ;a short timo Auckland will havu a certain number of trtinicars running iu couples on tho lines. Amongst its rolling-stock the company lias 24 small cars. These are each licensed to hold 40 passengers, whereas the cars of moro recent date may carry G6 passengers .The small cars, according to the "Horaid," have been found inadequate to meet requirements, especially at rush hours, and the company has imported special coupling gear to like thoso cars up in pairs. Only one motonnan will therefore be required. Two conductors, one for each car, will he necessary. Combined, the two small cars will hold 80 passengers, and thus ho equal in tins respect to the doubledeckers. Tho first of the coupled cars has boon inspected by tho Public (Works engineer.

Ho asked tho society not to be too kind to the opessuni. As the correspondent failed to givo Ills name or any indication as to whoro ho lived, tho society could only formally, recoive the letter. Doubt was expressed as to whether the writer lived in the Dominion or was talking of his experiences in Australia.
