Percy Bono, a solicitor, and Thomas Dey, a, bookmaker, for circulating a typo-writ-ten sheet alleging that Siovior had blackmailed Dey for £1000 in connection with an advertisement published in Siovicr's paper tho "Winning Post," has commenced. Tho charge is o criminal one. Accused were committed for trial in Juno last. - Bono pleadod justification. ; Tho prosecuting counsol stated ihqfc tho "Winning Post" in 1907 refused Dc-y's advertisements, but that after am interviow these wero accepted, Dey paying Sievier. £300 for ono advertisement.! biovier denied that Dey gave him an-j other £700, which ho (Dey) had speci-j ally fotchod from tho bank in gold, an<l handed over in tho presence of Edwaru Sievier, a cousin of Robert's, who died in January last. After this, Robert* Sievier and Dey became political assocjJ atos at Hoxton, Dey being a candi-! date for a seat on the County Council.; Cross-examined, Sievier admitted thai; Dey had several times lent him money.. They had considerable betting transactions. Sievier said that after a quarrel in 1913 he again refused to accept l advertisements, and Dey and Bono thenJ circulated a libel among the Hoxtonj electors. Sievier incidentally stated 1 that his betting account for eightf months was £100,000.
