In connection with the caso of John Chowloy, a bookmaker, who was charged with forging a cheque, tho detectives gave evidence that the accused was tho cleverest tliiof and forger known to the polico, rivalling the notorious Jim tlio Penman. , Ho has hitherto escaped prosecution, always remaining in tho background, but on this occasion an accomplice "peached." Chowloy was sentenced to four years' imprisonment.— Sydney "Sun" Special. /
