Mr. Holman, the State Premier, ha j opened tho election campaign for the Labour party. At a big gathering in the Town Hall, he outlined the programme whereby they hoped to dish tho Liberals. NEW SOUTH AVALES POLITICS. (llec. October 15, 0.15 a.m.) Sydney, October 14. The New South Wales Stat-o Assembly met, but adjourned till a later hour, awaiting Bills from tho Council. The latter shelved all tho Government's country railway proposals excepting tho Dubbo-Werris Creek lino. The Legislative Council added the City Railway Bill to the list of slaughtered innocents. It declined tcj discuss tho Bill, as a matter of moro urgent importance was a motion dealing with tho smallpox epidemic. AUSTRALIAN RIFLE SHOOTING. (Rec. October 15, 0.45 a.m.) Sydney, October 14. At the New South Wales annual riflo shooting prizo meeting, Rifleman Franklin won £1 in ono of tho matches. SMALLPOX IN SYDNEY. (Rec. October 15, 0.15 a.m.) Sydney, October 14. Four cases of smallpox wero reported to-day. LATE DR. DIESEL: BODY FOUND. The Hague, October 13. The body of Dr. Diesel, the inventor of the Diesel engine, who was lost overboard when crossing the North Sea, has beon found at tho mouth of tho Scheldt. His son identified some valuables found on tho body. EARL'S SON LEGITIMISED. London, October 13. The Divorco Court has granted Vis-: count Ingestre, eldest son and heir of the Earl of Shrewsbury, a declaration of legitimacy.- Ho was born four months after Mrs.' Munday, a divorcee, married his father. (Rec. October 14, 6.30 p.m.) In connection with tho caso of Vfe count Ingestre, it is stated that tho Earl of Shrewsbury was a bachelor until 1882, when lie married Mrs. Mary Munday (on June 21 of that year) ,at Hanover Square, in a registry office. On September 18 of the same year Viscount Ingcstre was born. Evidence was tendered that Mrs. Munday left her husband in April 1881, and did not live witli him afterwards. The Earl of Shrewsbury was a daily visitor to her house, and subsequently slio lived with him at a hotel.—Sydnoy "Sun" Special. DOMINIONS' COMMISSION. . London, October 13. The Dominions' Commission will resume tho taking of evidence on November 12 with regard to postal and telegraphic communication with Australasia, and tho possibilities of cottongrowing in Australia. The Commission will visit South Africa in February next. LATE RT. HON. A. LYTTELTON. London, October 13. The late Right Hon. Alfred Lyttclton's estate lias been sworn at £*19,099. His death-bed will was inadequately attested. (Rec. October 14, 6.30 p.m.) Mr. Lyttelton's will was written on a single sheet of note paper. Ho omitted tlie name of his executor.
