FATHER DALY'S ESCAPE. One of tlie oldest residences in Upper Hntt was completely destroyed by fire at an early hour yesterday morning. For tho past few years the housp which is named "Pino I.odgo" has been occupied by Father Daly as a vicarage. From the few particulars available, it appears that Father Daly had a very narrow escape from tho burning building, which he quitted by one of the windows just as the roof collapsod. Everything in tlm house was destroyed, including £80 worth of prizes intended for tho carnival which is to bo held at Twntham shortly. Tho house was originally built and occupied by the' ]Ute Mr. Georgo Brown, J.P., and has for the past few years been attached to St. Joseph's Church, to which it fitoofc opposite. It was only recently that I sum of money was spont in having che residence shifted to a moro convenient positipn. Father Daly, it is believed, has received somo injuries as tho result of the. fire, and is confinod to his bed atthe Orphanago. ■ This is not tho first loss that ho has suffered by fire this year. Somo months ago a number of loose-boxes belonging to him wero destroyed completely.
