SWIMMING.

"THE SWIFTS'CLUB "MEETING. Mr. W. Smith presided over the annual meeting of the Swifts! Swimming Club last evening. The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted. Tho election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mr. C. P. Skerrett, IC.C.; vice-presidents, Messrs. Martin Chapman, K.C., J. P. Maxwell, J. A. Tripe, C. Smith, W. Smith, W. Skegg, J. F. Atkins, P. Harvey, and tho Hon. J. E. Jenkinson; captain, Mr. H. Jenkinson ; vicekaptain, Mr. A. M. Smith; lion, treasurer, Mr. T. Woodcock: secretary, Mr. J. Smith; auditor, Mr. F. J. Courtenay; handicappcrs, Messrs. P. Wilton, H. A. Lamb; management committee, Messrs. F. Wilton, P. Wilton, F. C. Jones, C. V. Fordham, H. J. John-. stori; starter, Mr. W. Power; check starter, Mr. H. A. Lamb; delegates to tho Wellington Centre, Messrs. F. Wilton, and A. H. Stevenson.

Considerable discussion ensued on tho "one-man-one-club" proposal adopted bv tho Wellington Club. It was decided that tho proposal could not bo entertained in its present form and a suggestion was made to tho effect ithat _a. preference clause be inserted in tho nomination form. Mr. F. Wilton contradicted a- statement which had been published to tho effect that tho Swifts Club had gained senior membors by taking junior members from tho Wellington Club. Ho sought to mako it clear that tho Swifts Club' had trained their members from juniors up to seniors and had never poached on other clubs.

A proposal to increaso the subscription was thrown out.
