MATANGI MAKES PORT. SEA-SWEPT IN BAY OF PLENTY. Auckland, October 13. Tho yacht Matangi arrived yesterday after a thirteen days' passago from Wellington. Sho ran into heavy weather off East Cape, tremendous seas sweeping her. Sho ran for shelter to Hicks Bay, and left the next day. Across the Bay of Plenty k tho heaviest wenthor of the trip was oncotvntercd. Hugo sea? came on board, and men below expected tho decks to crash in every moment. One sea smashed tho skylight and flooded the cabin. After passing Cuvier Island tho wind dropped, and a fair weather passage ensued to port. As an indication of tho heavy_ seas encountered, a fish was found in tho reefs of the mainsail when shaken out yesterday. DYNAMITARDS' COUP. Auckland, October 13. A safe on tho promises of Peter Stranberg, second-hand dealer, Upper Queen Street, was dynamited on Sunday, and £6 10s. in cash and jewellery valued at £200 stolen. PAKI PAKI SCARE ENDS. Hastings, October 18. Dr. Do Lisle, District Health Officer, visited the Paid Pa-ki pa this morning in connection with tho smallpox scare, and ■returned to town this afternoon. Ho reported "All clear," and restrictions preventing Natives from travelling, and from entering billiard-rooms and places of entertainment, wore removed.
