THE TRAWLER ENERGY.
'ANOTHER SIDE OF THE STORY, In an intorviow published in Saturday's is3ue,'i Captain Eckford, owner of the trawler Energy, stated that tho vessel had been laid tip becauso of tho difficulty of getting tho grade of engineers required under tho law., and because of the uncertainty of tho fishing and tho restrictions imposed. Captain Thorns, lato master ot tho Energy, Writes disputing Captain Eckford'a statement of tho position. According to Captain Thorns he and tho crow wero working on shnros in the fishing results, and they wero dissntisfied with the treatment they received in tho matter of payment of their shares. Therefore they declined to continue, and tho vessel was laid up. It was their action, Captain Thorns states, that laid tho vessel up, and the reason was that they had not received the money they claimed they were entitled to. As to tho difficulty in. securing engineers with the certificate required by law, Captain Thorns also disputes this statement. Tho engineer who was on tho vessel when it was laid up was a first-class man, and tho vossol never Tan bottor or more economically than it did with that particular officer in charge of its engines. Captain Thorns adds:."ln fact, my last crew wero as good a crow as I would wish to sail with. Moreovor, tlioy have jnado more money for tho owtiors than any previous crew during my time in pharge of the vessel."
