Tho death occurred at Huntervillo on Friday of Mr. John Chubbin, in his eighty-ninth year. He was one of New Zealand's earliest pioneers, and liad hac, an adventurous career. Ho was a na--tivo of tilio Islo of Man, and migrated to tho Californiau goldfiolds in 1845, thence to Australia in 1851, and 011 to New Zealand in 1.855. In 1856 ho set tied in Southland, left , there in 1860, and, after a trip tc South America and tho Old Country, settled near Hnwora in 18G8. Tho Native troubles compelled him to abandon his holding, and ho removed to Huntervillo, whoro 110 died. Mr. J. J.
