Interest in the world's series of baseball matches was so keen that tho Democrats flippantly questioned tho Chairman of tho House of Representatives as to tho result of tho Philadelphia-New York contests. Tho Chairman replied that the question was unparliamentary, but Representative Mann persisted, declaring that they had better adjourn in order to learn the progress of tho game. After soveral announcements of the state of the game had been shouted across tho floor, the House, unable to secure a quorum, adjourned.
