METHODISM.

THE THORNDON, CIRCUIT. Tlie quarterly, meeting of the Thorndon Methodist Circuit was hold at Kara ri this week. There was a large attendance of representatives from the •Molesworth Street, Northland, Karori, and Kaiwarra Churches, the Rev. G. S. Cook presiding. Although tho financial statement disclosed a deficit of £7 13s. 9d. on the quarter's working, there had, been a considerable improvement in tho income, and generally signs of improvement were evident in tho circuit. It was decided to make arrangements to more adequately sustain tho finances and also to reduce the previous quarter's deficiency, and, as a commencement an appeal was mado to the officials present, and there was a ready response. It was stated that tho envelope system had proved beneficial. The trust funds of tho Northland and Kaiwarra Churches wero receiving special attention and schemes in connectionwith these were being supported. Tho reports indicated that the Sunday Schools, Endeavour Societies, and Mutual Improvement Society wero all making good progress. Mr. I. Sims was appointed circuit secretary and treasurer for tho Homo and Foreign Mission Funds. Motions of condolence were passed to the relatives of tho late Mr. W. D. Jenkins,' a trustee and worker for the past 25 years, and of the late Mr. W. J. Roberts—both of the Molesworth Street Church. A letter of sympathy was directed to bo sent to Mrs. Cook, wifo of the Rev. G. S. Cook, who has been seriously ill for lomo tirot. Unanimous invitations wero extended to tho Revs. G. S. Cook and P. J. Cossum to continue as ministers of tho cirouit for another year, and in both instances tho invitations woro accepted.
