. STOCK EXCHANGE CHARGES. According to the Melbourne "Argus," after a good deal of discussion, the revision of the rates >of commission chargeable by members of tho Stock Exchange of Melbourne has been completed. Though a certain tentative agreement was arrived at on the subject by the recent conference oj: delegates from the* Stock Eschanges of iieJbourno, Sydney, and, Adelaide, that scalo has not been adopted in its entirety by any of the institutions. Upon revision of the conference rate, each exchange has arrived at ,a different ecale of charges, eo that the gathering of delegates has left matters in this respect much as tliey wero before. Certain of'the conference suggestions were adopted by Melbourne and Sydney, but Adelaide rejected the scale entirely. Tho variations in Sydney liavo been in both directions—on shares selling under 10s. there has beon a reduction, while for shares priced _ between Efe and 50s. there has been an increase. . Tho Melbourne institution, which still retains a higher, rate in. many respects than that adopted in Sydney, has left rates for investment stocks untouched, but some reductions which will be of advantago to dealers In the highcr-priccd mining stocks have been mado. Most of tho stocks dealt in are, however, unaffected by tlio change. Another variation of existing practice decided upon by members relates to the Saturday morning meetings in the call-room. Hitherto two meetings have been held, but in future there will bo only ono official meeting, which will bo at half-past 10 o'clock. Then the official list will bo called through, and subsequently the active stocks will bo recalled if the members so desire before they leave the call-room, Under the new arrangement tho official closing time on Saturday mornins will bo 12 o'clock.
