CRICKET AFFAIRS. CLUBS ENCACED THIS SEASON. SATURDAY'S MATCHES. Tho Management Committee of the Wellington Crioket Association mot last night. Mr. C. G. Wilson presided. Other members of the exooutivo present wore:• Messrs. M. J. Crombie, F. Martin, j F. Midlano, A. Georgo, C.C.J. Bay, C. Hickson, F. Fanning, and E. M-. Beechey. Mr.: A. A. Georgo reported that tho Wellington South Club wore unable to got together. a team to enter for tho championship. Only ■ threo attendod a meeting of tho club called last week. Tho few enthusiasts in the district much ' regretted tho matter. Financially tho club was in a very fair way, and new members would not be undertaking any > apparent liability. The expected influx from East B had not arriyed. Tho association then rescinded its resolution to tho effect that no team, could enter more than ono senior team/ and an application from Wellington East to enter two senior teama was agreed to. Mr. F. Midlane explained that the two teams are to be of equal strength, and that there aro to he no transfers, from'ono'team to tho other. Vacancies are to be filled from tho junior ranks. .The question of. deciding for which team J. Y. Satinders is to play was deforred. Tho committee was unable to decide which club would most need his services. ■ Personal. Mr. T. Brodio, of Wellington College, asked to bo relieved of his position on the, third-class committee as he had not tho necessary, time to spar.e.- Mr. C. Coato was elected in his stead. The Artillery Club will bo allowed to play (as a junior) P. Cullen, who played senior for East A last soason. Mr. T. J. Thurman was elected an honorary momber of .tho association. Mr. Mason, Lower Hutt, was elected to the committee to fill the vacancy caused through the election of Mr. E. M. Beechey to tho secretaryship. Club. Entries. The Artillery Club was granted permission to enter a Saturday junior . team. ' Old Boys aro putting one senior, one junior, and two third-grade teams in the field. ' St. David's Club will enter only one toam—a third-class elevon. \ Wellington College teams will be one junior and two thirds. Brooklyn will enter a junior team. Lower Hutt Club will be represented by a senior, a junior, and perhaps a third-class team. A senior, a junior, and a third eleven will be put forward by Centfal. One third-class team has been entered by Karori. Porirua Mental Hospital were admitted to the junior grade. All ' their matches will bo played on their own ground. ' . The East Club will enter about five teams,' two. senior. " . , Junior Opening Postponed. In view of. the fact that there is to bo a Territorial.parade on Saturday next, tho junior and third-class competitions will not be commenced till Saturday, October 18.
