OFFER TO PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
FOR LADIES' COLLEGE.' (By Teloiraph—Press Association.) Duncdin, October 7. At a mooting of the Dunedin Presbytery to-day, ■ tbo liov. A. Wh.vta brought forward a proposal from Mrs. Nisbct (widow of the lato Dr. Nisbet) and Miss !Ross to assist in establishing a Presbytoriaii Ladies' College in Dunedin. Tlio proposal stated, inter alia: "Wo offer ourselves and our establishment to the Presbyterian Church on such terms as would bo deemed just and equitable." The establishment referred to is Girton College, with its homo for boarders, "Archcrfield." Mr. Whytasaid that tbeso ladies were prepared tj place £300,0 at the disposal of tha Church at 6 per cent., without any. security except the honour of tha Church. The idea was' to secu're 20 acres, or thorcabouts, near Dunedin, and to inaugurate a scheme that, w'hon completed, would cost about £30.000, but could bo begun with a subscription list of £5000. A committee was appointed to consider the offer, and report to the pros* bytery. «
