SURVEYORS' EXAMINATION.
DOMINION RESULTS. Tho September examination for diplomas and licenses for surveyors throughout tho Commonwealth of Australia and Now Zealand wero held in. tho various centres during tho wholo of last week. For Now Zealand" twentyono students in all from the different provincial _ districts presented tliemsix of whom sat for tho first time. Of tho latter, those who passed 1 : —in their order of merit—wero as un-. der:—Mr. P. V. Norman, Hamilton;' Mr. B. C. A. M'Cabe, Lands and Sur- 1 voy Department, Nelson; Mr. C. W. Foster, Wellington; Mr. J. Mackay. Wellington; Mr. A. T. Leeds, Landß alia Survey Department, Auckland (subject to his completing certain plans). With regard to tho fifteen candidates who sat on previous occasions, tho following completed their examination, in tho order of merit as noted hereunder: —Mr. E. V. Blake, Lands and Survey Department, Auckland; Mr. S. T, Seddon,_ Lands 'and Survey/ Department, Wellington; Mr. H. L. Primrose, Lands and Survey Department, Wellington; Mr. C. K. Robinson, Stratford; Mr. H. P. Spencer, Auckland; Mr. G. A. Hatliawav, Lands and Survey Department, , Auckland; Mr. 11. G. Shannon, Lauds and Survey Department, Auckland; Mr. W. S. Thompson, Lands and Survey Department, Napior; Mr. G. F. Martin, Wellington. The examining'.board for New Zealand consisted of:—Mr. James Mackenzie, Surveyor-General, Wellington, chairman of tho board; Mr. Thomas Humphries. ex-Surveyor-Gcncral, and president or the N.Z. Instituto ■of Surveyors, Wellington : Mr. 11. Sladden, vice-president of tho N.Z. Instituto of Surveyors, Wei* lington; Mr. J. W. Harrison, vice-pro« sident of tho N.Z. Instituto of Sur< veyors, Auckland; Mr. E. H. Wilmot, Chief Surveyor, Otago, and Mr. C. E. Adams, M.Sc - ., F.R.A.S., secretary to the board, Wellington. In oonformity with tho usual procedure of tho Federated boards, papers are set for each March and September examination in rotation, and on this occasion it fell to the lot of the Now Zealand board of examiners to prepare the papers. Tho territorial sphere over which this examination operates is a somewhat larco olio, as it includes nB far north as New Guinea, coming down: to and including Now Zealand in tho south.
