A sensation has been caused in musical circles by the news of tho stranding ■of tho Denhof Grand Opera Company or 200 performers at Manchester, after a three-weeks' provincial tour. Herr Denhof, interviewed, said that most people seemed to prefer the cheap music-halls, and wero unwilling to pay to hear good music. It was necessary to confine grand opera to London.
