JERSEYS & ABERDEEN-ANGUS.

Tlio results of crossing Jersey and Abordeen-Angus cattlo are discusscd in the monthly bulletin of tho International Institute of Agriculture. Tho experiments were mado in tho ISorth of Englandi by an owner who, finding that Jerseys could not stand tlie severe climato of that part of tho country, wished to try to combine tho milk-fat producing properties of tho Jerseys with the flesh-producing properties of the Aberdeen-Angus breed. Tho first 'cross, that of an Aberdeen-Angus bull with a Jersey cow, was eminently successful. The calves from such crosses wore all black, one femalo only showing a patch of whito under the udder. There are traces of the Jersey in the udder, and tho inside of tho thighs and the ears aro also covered with hairs, as is tho caso with tho latter breed. Tho females wero all polled, but tho males with ago usually developed embryo horns or scars. A number of the cows have produced calves, and all but one havo Deen as good milkers as their dams. Tlio steers, which are only slightly larger than the Jerseys, have fattened roadily, and fetched good prices. The first cross' females havo been crossed with sires of precisely the same breeding as themselves, but tho offspring, it is stated, _ aro of varied colours "and characteristics.
