Tho annual report and bajance-sheet of tho Tborndon Lawn Tennis .Club, to bo presented at tho annual meeting on Thursday ovoning, rnontioris that tho year closed with a membership of 104 playing members, and the finances have improved, the debit balance standing at £28 15s. Id., as against £50 7s. 7d. at the end of tho previous season. The president of tho club, Mr. R. M. Simpson, has donated a trophy for competition during tho coming season. During last season two championship and four handicap ovonts woro played, members ontering freely for each ovent, and some interesting and closo finishes resulted. Tho club was well represented at tho New Zealand and Australasian championship meetings, hold at Hastings, and at tho Mastorton, Rangitikoi, and Dannovirko meetings. Appreciative roforenco is niado to tho benefits accruing to lawn tennis as a result of tho visit to theso shores of the victorious British Islos Davis Cup team in December and January last. The outlook for tho season is stated to bo distinctly promising. Saturday, October 18, has boon decided on as the official opening day, and if that day bo wet, proceedings for tho season will bo begun on Saturday, November 1. commenced.

Lingard and Co., Wellington, have an advertisement in this issue of interest to those in a position to exchange a dairy farm, milking 100 cows or over, for equities amounting to ,£11770 in two small dairy farms.
