— $ TOUR OF THE AMERICANS. The Council of tho New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association mot last evening. Mr. A. A. Marryatt presided. A cablegram was received from Victoria stating that there was great dissatisfaction respecting the possibility of New Zealand not competing at this year's Australasian championships, which aro to be held in Melbourne. The cablegram added that Now Zealand might expect Victoria to refuse to guarantee, part of tho cost of the American athletes' tour unless a New Zealand team were sent over. ■ Tho council decided to reply that they would hold Victoria to its guarantee re the Americans' tour. The Otago Centre suggested that some of the best New Zealand athletes should Itour tho Dominion with the Americans: this to increase tho attraction. It was resolved that the annual meeting of tho association should be held in Wellington at 7.30 p.m. on November 19. Otago's suggestion thsut O. Fryo, who had thrice mn fifth in the crosscountry championship of New Zealand, should be awarded a badge in recognition' of that, was not entertained; to entertain it (the council decided)' would havo been out of accordance with tho rules. On tho recommendation of the Wellington Centre the council decided to reinstate Samuel Hall, who had been disqualified for competing at a professional meeting.
