DEATH OF MR. G. B. NICHOLLS.

Chrlstchurcli, October The inquest touching tho death of George Bernard Nicholls, orgauisor of the Canterbury No-License League, who succumbed to injuries recoived in an accident, was resumed to-day. . Tho accident occurred at tho corner of St. fcUbans Street and Papanui Road on Thursday. Deceased, who was riding a motor-oycle at tho time of the accident, collided with a tramcar, and. sustained serious injuries, which proved fatal. At .a previous sitting, > the medical evidence went to show that the immediate cause of 'death was' fracturo of the skull. Evidence was given to-day to the effect that IW. Nioholls came out from St. Albans Street, and, in trying to get, across the road in front of an electric car coming towards the city, h<j collided with the front portion of the car and appeared to be dragged about three yards before the car stopped. Deceased was thrown between tlio two lines of rails. The tramcar had just passed a stopping-place, and appeared to be going at a walking-paco. Tho motormnn stated that ho could not, by any means, have avoided the accident, neither could ' deceased, owing to the speed at which he was travelling. It all happened like a flash. Ho rang his gong before he camo to the crossr ing. . . _ The Coroner: It's a horribly dangerous corner. Anybody might meot with an accident there. A verdict was returned that deceased &ad been accidentally killed. THE FUNERAL. Ghrlstohuroh, Octobor 5. The funeral of tho lato Mr, G. B. Nioholls this afternoon was very numerously attendod, tho procession being over a mile in length, in addition to a large number of vehicles. There was a big muster of members of tho No-Li-cense Leagues, Temperance Societies, tind Bands of Hope., The scene at the gravesido, whore the servico was conducted by tho Rov. J. Dawson, of Wel(l(ington, was very impressive.
