NOMINATED FOR BIG TOUR. (By Telegraph— Press Association.) Christchurch, October 5. The .following nominations havo been received in Christchurch for tho New Zoaland cricket team for Australia: J. H. Bonuott, C. Boxshall, T. Carlton, W. Hayes, R. J. Hickmott, W. R. Patrick, D. Rcoso, and D. Sauduian. PLAY OR DRILL? The Petono Cricket Club has resolved not to play any match next Saturday, holding that tho Cricket Association has not kept to its agreement. Certain fixtures had been submitted in order that matches should not clash with daylight parades. Nest Saturday there is a daylight parade, and as tho majority of Potone players must attend, tho club has decided not to play. It was understood that tho association and Defence Department would confer with a view of avoiding a clash, but by tomo Cleans or other next Saturday, which should havo been passed l over, was chosen to open tho season. INSTITUTE OLD BOYS' CLUB. Tho first general meeting of tho 'Wellington Boys' Institute Old Boys' Cricket Club was hold on Friday evening. Mr. W. J. Bennett presided. The following officers were elected: Hon. president, Mr. R. E. Wood; " president, Mr.' 0. G. Wilson; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. Millar, 1". 0. Atkinson, M. F. Luckio, L. Watkins, and D. M'Kenzio; club captain, Mr. C. IC. Dick; lion, secretary, Mr. Jas. D. Howltt; lion, treasurer, Mr. A. A. Mabin; material committee, Mr. A. Beale; management committeo, Messrs. H. Lamb, E. Ronner, 'and F. Colly, with the officers of tho club; selection com' mittee for first match, Messrs. W. Garrod, E. Renner, and A. Mabin j delegate to W.C.A., Mr. Jas. A. Howitt. PUBLIC SCHOOLS. The aiinual meeting of the Wellington. Publio School Cricket Association was held on Saturday, Mr. 0. R. Joplin. presiding. Tho report was read and adopted. It was decided, amongst othor business transacted, to try the two days' match system during tho coming seascii, and if satisfactory to abolish tho present one-day match system altogether. Tho championship cup (donated by Messrs. Volkmaim , and Tuckor) was presented to tho Hutt District High School. It was mentioned that tlie Hutt Sohool and tho Mount Cook Boys' School, have each won it threo times, and the coming season's matches will probably decido which sohool will hold it for good. Tho junior championship certificate was presented to tho Karon School. Incidentally it was mentioned that there were likely to be eight or nine senior teams, and 12 or 13 junior teams, on tho field this season.
