BANKRUPTCY COURT.
THE SOMERVILLE CASE AGAIN. His Honour the Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) presided over the Bankruptcy Court on Saturday, when two applications were made for discharge. In the case of William George Somorville, agent, Dannevirke, Mr. 0. Beoro appeared in support of the application, which was opposed by Mr. M. Myers, on behalf of the Official Assignee ;Mr. Simpson) until a proof of debt for£Boo, lodgod by Somorvillo's relatives in the case of Henry Hurrell, another debtor, which had been rejected by the Official Assignee, bad been decided. Mr. Myers remarked that the ladies, who wore relatives of Somerville, ought to bo prosont, so that he could cross-exam-ine them, to see if the money was really owing to them. His Honour: You had hotter fix a date. Mr. Bcere: Unless Mr. Somerville is examined now. Mr. Myers:. That is just what I don't want. I don't want Mr. Somoryille' to be examined now, and these ladies to give evidence after. The Official Assigneo: Tho £1000 has been lying idle in tho bank for the last two months. It was decided to adjourn until Saturday, Novembor 1, when tho creditors in Hurrell's case would be prescut for cross-examination. Mr. Myers asked that tho application for Somervillo's discharge bo adjourned until tho same date, as it was a matter which needod investigation. • _ His Honour (after reading the Official Assignee's report): This is a very adverse report. Tho application was eventually adjourned until November 1. LAND SPECULATION. David Taylor, butcher, Wade3town, applied for his discharge. His Honour: You have been gambling in lad speculation, I see, but there is no objection to your discharge, no creditor appears against you, so I shall grant it.
