VEGETABLE SUPPLIES INCREAS- . :ING. The supply of vegetables at th© Blair and Allen Streets markets has increased considerably during this week, practically all lines with tho exception of cal> bages meeting an excellent demand. Potatoes aro now meeting with better inquiry, and tho market Bhows signs of hardening in the near future. Onions, Japanese and American, are in heavy supply, with prices unaltered. Local apples aro now in short supply,'high prices being the general rulo. American apples, via Auckland, came to hand this week, and sold well. A few lines of local cool-stored pears aro still arriving on a very good market. This week's shipment of New South Wales fruit was considerably heavier than the previous consignment, with the result that prices for all lines eased very much. ' . Tasmanian and Victorian fruit arrived yesterday, and sold exceedingly well. ' , . A small line of Island oranges, _ via Auckland, camo to hand, but prices, when compared with late values, show a decided cUoroasa. • . . , Another lino ef tomatoes arrived tni3 week, but the prico realised is not as good as that recorded last week.
